Son of the American Mid-West, J.D. Clair told offbeat stories that intrigued and frustrated his family and teachers.

He was a loud mouthed trouble maker, whose passion for intricate narratives led to a deep affection for comics, theology, and mythology.  This led to a Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing at the University of North Texas before returning to the Chicago suburbs where he lives with his wife and three children and participates in community charities.

Overweight, he began an intense life changing routine by running, climbing stairs, and eating clean, which amounted to an 80 pound weight loss in a few months; during which the majority of “The Impossible Return to Innocence” was written. The story became a reflection of the physical transformation and documents various trials faced, including a loved one suffering a severe mental disorder.

“I learned dignity, self respect, and most difficult of all, that if you don’t take yourself seriously, no one else will.”
